Kirk O’Cliff Mission Support

 

Our Kirk provides generous support to many Mission programs.  Some you know about, others you may not be that familiar with.  Outlined below is a recap of all our programs, what they are used for, and how we supported them in 2014.

 

Kirk O’Cliff  Mission Support included in our annual budget:

  • Presbytery of the James Shared Mission- used for worldwide Presbyterian Mission         support. 
  • Louisa Food Bank- donated food and money to help feed destitute and low income families
  • Spotsylvania Food Bank- donated money to help feed low income and destitute families. 

 

Major Special Offerings including:

 

One Great Hour of Sharing - The collected funds are broken out into specific areas of giving and development, as follows:

  • 36% Presbyterian Hunger Program,
  • 32% Presbyterian Disaster Assistance,
  • 32% Self- Development of People 

Christmas Joy Offering

  • 50% Assistance programs of the Board of Pensions
  • 50% Presbyterian Philippines Disaster Relief Fund.

 

  Peacemaking Offering                  

  • 25% Congregational peacemaking ministries
  • 25% Presbytery and synod peacemaking offerings
  • 50% peacemaking ministries General Assembly Mission Council.

 

Pentecost Offering

  • 40% Congregational ministries with children at risk
  • 50% General Assembly ministries with youth and young adults
  • 10% Child advocacy at the national level.

 

Other types of Mission Support:

 

Presbytery of the James $.05 A Meal Program   

  • 50% International fight against hunger
  • 50% Presbytery of the James area food banks and pantry services. 

 

Yarner’s Group - knit and crochet gifts to the Presbyterian Children’s Home, Louisa Center-

   Hats, scarves and mittens.

 

Presbyterian Women - numerous mission support activities including Louisa Santa Council, Louisa County High School, Paul Stephan Home, Presbyterian Children’s Home, School Supplies.

 

Presbyterian Men - Christmas Baskets of Cheer- gift snacks for those in our local area who might welcome some Yuletide cheer.

 

Super Bowl Sunday-  Food and Funds collection to benefit local food banks.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous - Meet at  Kirk O’Cliff twice weekly (Wednesday and Saturday at 7:00 PM).
