About Our Church

Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church was built in 1876, by a group of Scottish Presbyterians on cliffs overlooking the Anna River in what is now the Lake Anna area of Central Virginia.  In 1911,long before the lake was created, the church building was taken apart and relocated to its present site in order to be closer to the location of its membership. Were the church still at its original location, it would be covered by the waters of the lake.

Who We Are

Originally our church family was made up of farmers but with the development of Lake Anna as a recreation and retirement area, our church family is now made up of retired persons from all walks of life, farm families and locals as well as weekenders.  We are a group of people who according to our creed believe in one God, the Father; who sent Jesus to live and die for us that we might be reconciled to the God and Father of all, regardless of race, nationality or religious background.  We believe that after Jesus’ death and resurrection, He has charged the church universal with the task to make disciples of all nations.  We are a warm, welcoming church family who cares for its members, community as well as the world; seeking always to care for spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs.

Our Goal

As a church family we have adopted as our motto or goal “To Be a Beacon of God’s Love,” so that the whole community may reflect God’s love and peace.  Our creed states that “through prayerful discernment and with the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe we will be led to engage in activities that will make a difference, by living our values of caring, commitment, leadership, spirituality, and tolerance.”   We invite you to learn more about us by reading the specific descriptions of various areas of worship, study and work within our website and more importantly we encourage and welcome you to come experience God’s love with us.
